My work investigates the phenomenology of building meaning when faced with an overwhelming amount of fragmented, repetitious, and culturally sporadic information.
In this series “Framed Tablets”, I use airdry clay in combination with 3D printed parts, twine, and surplus retail refuse to create reliefs which evoke tablets meant for communication. Painted with layers of spray paint, the tablets are meant to look primitive, artifact-like, yet packed with information from the present. Upon inspection, one begins to see that there is very little ability to clearly interpret a narrative. The work evokes an unsettled yet curious confluence of memory, geography and society.
